Information requested

1. How much additional funding has Ferguson Marine Engineering Limited (FMEL) received from the Scottish Government since its acquisition by the Scottish Government? What additional capital is forecast to be provided to FMEL on a monthly basis for the next 36 months? 2. Have the two ferry’s (vessels 801 and 802) engines been inspected and if so, can I have a copy of the latest inspection/review of them, and in additions any correspondence between the engine manufacturers and FMEL / Scottish Government regarding the work required, and the forecast cost of such work including any transport costs, before the engines can be commissioned? 3. Can I have a copy of any inspection reports regarding the hulls of the two vessels (801 and 802), and any assessment of the cost of work required to the hulls before the vessels can be commissioned?

Response

In answer to your first question I can advise as at 17 June 2020 funding provided to Ferguson Marine (Port Glasgow) Ltd (FMPG) since it acquired the business and certain assets of FMEL on 2 December 2019 is £12,569,276. We currently forecast providing funding to FMPG totalling £110.3 million (inclusive of the amounts transferred to date) to facilitate the delivery of vessels 801 and 802. This forecast is based on the Ferguson Marine report on cost and programme for vessels 801 and 802 and excludes the potential impact of COVID-19 which is yet to be calculated. The report can be accessed via the link below: https://www.gov.scot/publications/ferguson-marine-report-on-cost-and-programme-for-vessels-801-and-802/ The report provides an assessment of work required to the hulls before the vessels can be commissioned.
