Information requested

You asked for all documentation, held by the Scottish Government, including correspondence sent and received (including internal), minutes/notes, briefings and analysis from the First Minister's meeting with the European Commission President on 26 July 2025.

Response

Some of the information you have requested - namely briefing material and a note from the meeting - is already available from the following Freedom of Information release: First Minister meeting with President of the European Commission: FOI release - gov.scot Under section 25(1) of FOISA, we do not have to give you information which is already reasonably accessible to you.

I enclose, via attachment, a copy of the remaining documents in scope of your request, in this instance correspondence related to the meeting.

An exemption under section 38(1)(b) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act (FOISA) applies to the information you have requested. Section 38 of FOISA relates to personal information. In this instance, personal contact information and the names of officials under Senior Civil Service grade have been redacted.

This exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
