Information requested

For each of the last 20 years (i.e. 1999/2000 through to 2018/19) can you please detail:

a) Central government spending on new vessels for the Hebridean and Clyde services. b) Central government spending on piers and harbours used by Clyde and Hebrides ferries services c) Total annual operating subsidy paid to Caledonian MacBrayne / David MacBrayne ferries for each of those years.

Response

We have identified the information requested and this is detailed in Annex A.

In addition, some of the information requested is available in the public domain; namely investment on piers & harbours, and subsidy. One such source is the Scottish Transport Statistics, although it should be noted that the information contained here is predominately by calendar year.

In accordance with Transport (Scotland) Act 2001 (Section 70) (4) payments in respect of subsidies for ferry services and grants for infrastructure improvements are made by Transport Scotland. Transport Scotland publish a report annually which details suchpayments.
