Queen Elizabeth University Hospital room validation process: FOI release
Information requested
You asked for all documentation held by the Scottish Government, including minutes/notes from meetings, correspondence sent and received (including internal), briefings and analysis, about Queen Elizabeth University Hospital's rooms being validated, from the last month.
Response
All systems within NHS Scotland hospitals, including those at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), are subject to regular maintenance checks in line with guidance recommendations.
All NHS Scotland Health Boards, including NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde (NHS GG&C), are required to have Competent Persons, Authorised Persons and Authorised Engineers, who are external to the Board. Authorising Engineers annually validate systems, reviewing previous audits and actions.
All critical air systems at the QEUH are subject to a full annual validation process carried out by Authorised Persons and NHS GG&C’s Authorising Engineer. NHS GG&C has implemented governance structures, regular audits and a quality improvement strategy, aligned to national standards.
Escalation of issues occurs through sectoral governance teams, management and Board committees who hold this documentation. A structured approach ensures prompt attention and remediation and if necessary, notification to Scottish Government.
