Information requested

With reference to the data for 2024 published here CAP Payments Search, Defra, UK, please can you supply a copy of the data on the SGRPID tab modified as follows?

- filtered to include beneficiaries wholly or partly (please differentiate) within the catchment of the River Ericht in Tayside (as defined by the attached Shapefile)

- also showing, for any beneficiary for which DirectEAGFTotal is greater than 0, the area claimed in hectares

- Redacting all the beneficiary names

Response

An exemption under section 38(1)(b) of FOISA (personal information) applies to some of the information requested because it is personal data of a third party, ie business name and postal town and district within a small geographical area, and disclosing it would contravene the data protection principles in Article 5(1) of the General Data Protection Regulation and in section 34(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018. This exemption is not subject to the ‘public interest test’, so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.

The source data is a total sum of payments issued to beneficiaries between 16 October 2023 and 15 October 2024, therefore it contains payments and top up payments for multiple scheme years. It is therefore not possible to provide an area claimed in hectares in relation to the Direct EAGF Total. The Direct EAGF Total includes "Other direct aids - UK funded" which are not all area based.

In the attached workbook is the aggregated payment data for the 88 businesses who operate wholly or partially within the provided shape file.
