The June 2023 Ministerial roundtable: attendees, minutes and follow-up to discuss the regulation of aesthetic procedures: FOI release

Please provide the full attendance list, minutes or notes, and any follow-up correspondence from the parliamentary or ministerial roundtable of 13 June 2023, or any equivalent ministerial or parliamentary event in June 2023, at which SMASG, BCAM, BACN or BAMAN, and MSPs met to discuss the regulation of aesthetic procedures.
Response
On review of your request, we believe that you have the incorrect year of the roundtable. Ms Minto, Minister for Public Health and Women’s Health was invited to attend an event which was sponsored by Miles Briggs MSP at the Scottish Parliament on the 13 June 2024.
In the interest of being helpful, I enclose a copy of the information we hold relating to this meeting, in electronic form. For clarity there is reference to an attachment in the second email, this attachment is out of scope, as it is not in relation to the roundtable.
In the document an exemption under section 38(1) of FOISA (personal information) has been applied, including names and email addresses. This exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption. In the document an exemption under section 30(b) of FOISA (free and frank provision of advice or exchange of views). This exemption is subject to the ‘public interest test’. Taking account of all the circumstances of this case, we have considered if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption. We have found that, on balance, the public interest lies in favour of upholding the exemption. We recognise that there is a public interest in disclosing information as part of open, transparent and accountable government, and to inform public debate. However, there is a greater public interest in allowing a private space within which officials can provide full and frank advice to Ministers.
While we aim to provide information whenever possible, the Scottish Government does not hold the full list of attendees of this meeting. This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not hold some the information you have requested.
