The Scottish Government publishes workforce information on a quarterly basis which can be accessed on the Scottish Government homepage. This includes details of staff numbers.
My response in relation to the annualised salary cost for the Communications team is based on the most recently published data, which was 31st December 2025.
The total annualised salary cost as at 31 December 2025 for staff in the Scottish Government’s Communications team, was £9,367,808. Our interpretation of your request is that it asks for the total value of the elements that make up the salaries of individuals in the Communication team. This is different from total paybill which would, for example, include additional employment costs such as Employer National Insurance Contributions and Employer Pension Contributions.
