A list of the type of FOI requests which SPADs have requested to be sighted on, whether by subject matter, or by identity of requester.
Response
I have now completed my review of our response to your request under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA) for a list of the categories of FOI requests for which SPADs have asked to be sighted on.
Following a further search of Foi.SpAdsPO@gov.scot mailbox, I have concluded that a different decision should be substituted. Nevertheless, the original response was correct in stating that only cases graded as Sensitive are sent to Special Advisers for comment and then on to Scottish Government Ministers for decision.
Special Advisers can request sight of FOI cases verbally or directly with policy teams. However, neither the FOI Unit nor the Special Advisers’ Private Office maintains a central record of such requests, as there is no operational requirement to do so.
A further search of the Foi.SpAdsPO@gov.scot mailbox identified a small number of occasions Special Advisers have asked for sight of politically sensitive topics, please see below:
