Response

You can find attached an annex containing the information relating to the promotion of the Gaelic language. The Scottish government provides funds to a variety of Gaelic organisation for a variety of purposes relating to the Gaelic language. We do not hold records that differentiate funds that are for the 'promotion' of the Gaelic language as opposed to other funds, so have instead included data that shows the spending we have allocated in the current financial year and funding that we provided in the past financial year to Gaelic organisations, excluding funding that is for Gaelic medium education and Capital funding due to these being outwith the scope of your request.

The Scottish Government does not have the information you have asked for relating to school signage on public vehicles because the Scottish Government does not directly administrate school spending or monitor the amount that is then used on schools signage on public vehicles. The amount spent on this may be held by the local authority however a separate Freedom of Information request would need to be made to each local authority to provide this information.

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.

The Scottish Government does not have the information you have asked for relating to local road signage because it is the responsibility of local authorities. Therefore information on their associated costs is not held by the Scottish Government. Transport Scotland, which comes under the remit of the Scottish Government, is responsible for signage on trunk roads. Transport Scotland does not have the information you have asked for. While its records includes costs for traffic signs the rates do not differentiate by sign type or language. Therefore Transport Scotland does not hold any information to enable the costs associated with Gaelic road signs to be distinguished between a single language and bi-lingual sign from the overall totals.

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.
