Information requested

Looking for any evaluation or report or review on the Scottish Government's national activity encouraging people to become sperm and egg donors.

Response

I enclose a copy of the following reports in a pdf format:

Healthier Scotland Scottish Government Egg and Sperm Campaign Evaluation Report on 2021-22 Activity. ‘A comparison between a social media campaign and radio campaign for egg and sperm donor recruitment’. This information was provided to Scottish Government by Fertility Scotland National Network, which was established in January 2021, commissioned by NHS National Services Scotland (NHS NSS) on behalf of Scottish Government to provide a single Scottish National Strategic Network for NHS fertility services. Healthier Scotland National Gamete Donor Campaign Facebook and Spotify Advertising Report, November 2023. This information was provided by NHS Grampian and BIG Partnership.

Please note that the Fertility Scotland National Network report at 2 above, is an incomplete document and currently available in draft only.

The personal name and individual contact information of BIG Partnership has been removed under Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, Section 38 (1) (b) exemption. The reasons why this exemption applies is explained in the annex to this letter.

ANNEX

An exemption applies

An exemption under section 38(1)(b) of FOISA (personal information) applies to a small amount of the information requested because it is personal data of a third party, ie names, titles and contact details of external organisations and disclosing it would contravene the data protection principles in Article 5(1) of the General Data Protection Regulation and in section 34(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018. This exemption is not subject to the ‘public interest test’, so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
