Information requested

You asked for the percentage of mixed tenure farm ownership (9%) in 2021 into the two categories used by other national governments: ‘mixed-tenure, mostly owned’ and ‘mixed tenure, mostly rented".

Response

I enclose a copy of the information you requested.

In 2021 there were 23,987 livestock farms in Scotland (source the Scottish Agricultural census June 2021 and supporting documents). Of those 23,987 livestock farms, 65% were owner-occupied, 26% were tenanted and 9% of mixed tenure.

The split of mixed tenure within livestock farms is 4% mixed (mixed-tenure, mostly owned) and 5% mixed (mixed tenure, mostly rented).
