Information requested

How many reverse vending machines will be installed in Scottish Government buildings, and when, as part of the Deposit Return Scheme rollout? How many alternatives to reverse vending machines will be installed in Scottish Government buildings, and when, as part of the Deposit Return Scheme rollout? What are the costs of installing return points i.e. reverse vending machines or other return points in Scottish Government buildings as part of the Deposit Return scheme?

Response

I can advise that the Scottish Government intend to install reverse vending machines in 8 buildings. This will cover all buildings that have staff restaurant facilities and are affected by the upcoming legislation. I can advise that the same eight buildings will be set up to use the manual system as described in the legislation, as part of the Deposit Return Scheme, if the reverse vending machines cannot be delivered and installed before commencement of the scheme. The final costs have not yet been received but initial pricing suggests the cost will be approx. £20,000 ex vat for each machine. About FOI
