Response
The 2018 Programme for Government included a commitment to “increase support for children and families affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)”. As part of that commitment we worked with Health Boards to deliver this support. For some children and families that involved support following a medical diagnosis of FASD but others may have had their needs identified as FASD related without following the diagnostic route. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and NHS Lanarkshire made successful bids and were provided with £20,000 each to undertake this work. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s project provided support for families with children that have diagnosed/undiagnosed FASD and delivered FASD training to staff in health, social work & education. NHS Lanarkshire’s project provided post diagnostic support for children and young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties with or without an FASD diagnosis. About FOI
