Please note: (i) The table above contains data on the number of people convicted for a crime that was recorded on the Criminal History System database with a bail aggravator. This means the crime was committed whilst the person was on bail. The number of people convicted of a breach of bail conditions under the section 27(1)(B) of the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1995 have been removed from this table. (ii) The data in this table will not match Table 1 of the additional tables on bail-related data published here: Supporting documents - Criminal Proceedings in Scotland, 2019-20 - gov.scot (www.gov.scot). This is because the published table contains data on the number of offences committed rather than number of people convicted, as included in this FOI response. An individual can be convicted of more than one offence during a court proceeding. (iii) The latest available information on criminal proceedings in Scotland is for the financial year 2019-20. Proceedings database is not a live case system and the 2021-22 information is not yet available. The 2020-21 data will be published later this year.
