Redesign of Urgent Care Programme costs: FOI release
Information requested
In relation to costs of the redesign of urgent care programme, please could you tell me: 1. How much has been spent on the RUC programme to date, including marketing?
Please could this be broken down by area of spend (EG marketing, NHS boards etc).
2. How much is budgeted to be spent on the RUC programme under current plans? 3. Please could you provide me with any assessments/evaluations or otherwise held by the Scottish government of any marketing campaigns promoting the RUC to the public.

Point 1 On 29 October 2020 the Scottish Government announced that £20 million would be allocated to NHS Health Boards to support delivery of the Redesign of Urgent Care Programme Helping people get the right care, in the right place - gov.scot (www.gov.scot). In August 2021, and as part of the NHS Recovery Plan, the Scottish Government allocated an additional £23 million pounds to NHS Health Boards to support the next phase of the programme. A breakdown of the provision for Boards – as included within both funding packages – is set out below.

Below sets out funding allocated to support the Scottish Government’s delivery of a major public information campaign to enable people to get the right care in the right place.

Point 2 An evaluation programme has been established to deliver a comprehensive evaluation of progress with the Redesign of Urgent Care pathway implementation and to monitor the impact on public confidence, patient expectation, satisfaction and experience, quality, safety and cost benefit. To understand the value of the redesign programme we are extending an invitation to external providers to undertake a review of the programme investment.
