Information relating to National Care Service Funding, any records which estimate the cost of this service and to what extent this would be given to local governments and any corresponding cuts to their budgets.

Response

In response to your query I can confirm that: We have made a commitment in our Programme for Government 2021/22 that, as a minimum, we will increase public investment in social care by 25% over this Parliament – providing over £800 million more by 2026/27. The exact increases in investment in social care will relate to the final shape of the reforms and legislation towards the creation of the National Care Service (NCS). In addition, the Scottish Government will be undertaking further work towards the financial memorandum for the legislation to create the NCS, and the NCS programme business case will be available later this year.
