COVID-19 hospital admissions by vaccine status: FOI release
Information requested
The percentage of patients in hospital with Covid-19 that are fully vaccinated.
Response
Most of the information you have requested is available from Public Health Scotland (PHS).
PHS publish the Covid-19 related acute hospital admissions by vaccine status in their weekly statistical report. You can download the latest report, published on 22 September 2021, here: https://publichealthscotland.scot/media/9330/21-09-22-covid19-publication_report.pdf.
Please see the analysis on page 34-39. In particular, Table 16 on page 36-37 shows the number of acute hospital admissions where individual had a COVID-19 positive PCR test 14 days prior, on admission or during their stay in hospital, by week and vaccination status, 21 August 2021 to 17 September 2021.
The data is shown for unvaccinated individuals, people who received one dose and people who received two doses.
Vaccination status for all individuals who test positive for COVID-19 by PCR is extracted from the data used to produce the PHS vaccine uptake/daily dashboard. Vaccine records include the number of doses and date of vaccination. Vaccination status is taken at date of specimen for COVID-19 acute hospital admissions. For example, a person classified as having 2 doses is an individual that has had two doses of COVID-19 vaccine and has tested positive for COVID-19 by PCR more than 14 days after their 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccine. You can read more about the definition for vaccination status in Appendix 9 of the PHS report (link above) and in particular on pages 50-51.
