Procurement of face masks supplied to staff: FOI release
Information requested
1. What type of masks are procured and supplied to staff – cloth masks, Surgical masks, N95 professional grade medical masks? 2. What is the cost per unit on the masks? please provide the monthly cost if possible. 3. How many face masks have been supplied per month since March 2020? 4. The person in the organisation responsible for this particular product. Can you send me the full contact details Contact Name, Job Title, Contact Number and direct email address for each network provider? If full contact details cannot be provided, please send me their actual job title.
Response
I enclose some of the information you requested in the annex below. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because an exemptions under section 38(1)(b) Third party personal data of FOISA applies to that information. The reasons why exemptions applies are explained in the Annex to this letter.
Annex An exemption under section 38(1)(b) of FOISA applies to a some of the information requested because it is personal data of a third party, i.e. names and contact details of individuals, and disclosing it would contravene the data protection principles in Article 5(1) of the General Data Protection Regulation and in section 34(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018. This exemption is not subject to the ‘public interest test’, so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption. The Scottish Government provide staff with cloth face coverings. The unit cost for each face covering is £1.25. The table below provides details of number of masks provided since March 2020.
