Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) certificates: FOI release
Information requested
1. Can you please tell me how many Protecting Vulnerable Groups certificates had information on Fiscal Fines and Fiscal Warnings on them since 2015 in the vetting information section? 2. And also, do you do any checking for new information once someone is a member of the scheme or do the police just let you know if something needs to be added (like a Fiscal Warning).
Response
I enclose a copy of all of the information you requested. The answer to your question is: 1. Fiscal Fines and Fiscal Warnings are Alternatives to Prosecution which may be included as vetting information if the chief constable of Police Scotland decides that the information is relevant to the type of regulated work to which the PVG disclosure request relates, and that the information ought to be included on the scheme record. I can confirm that between 2015 and 2019 inclusive, there were 22 PVG Certificates where the Other Relevant Information section contained the key phrases ‘ Fiscal Fine’ or ‘Fiscal Warning’. 2. All PVG scheme members are subject to ongoing monitoring (continuous updating). This means that all PVG scheme members’ vetting information is kept up to date and if new information is added, it will be assessed to determine if they are unsuitable to do regulated work with children and/or protected adults.
