Novel coronavirus sample testing locations: FOI release
Information requested
You asked: "As of today, 34 Novel coronavirus (2019-nCov) tests have been done in Scotland. Please tell me the location (i.e. the name of hospital or other medical facility) where each test was carried out."
Response
In terms of samples taken from patients, prior to 10 February all samples were sent to Public Health England to be tested in their laboratory at Colindale. On Monday 10 February, Scotland's Chief Medical Officer announced that two laboratories, one in Glasgow and one in Edinburgh, will now begin to process tests from Scotland. The Scottish Government does not have information about locations where individual patients have presented with symptoms and had samples taken. Responsibility for the effective preparation and response to outbreaks and incidents lies with Health Protection Scotland.
