Information requested

In regards to the Moving Forward: Making Changes (MF: MC) Treatment Programme for sex offenders: 1 . If a prisoner is near the end of their tariff time and near their parole date, are they able to do the MFMC course in the community?

Response

MF: MC is available in custody and the community. The Parole Board for Scotland may determine that part of any licence conditions may be to undertake intervention work in the community and direct an individual to do so. It is likely that Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) will also be in place for people convicted of a sexual offence and these too may have a bearing on the licence requirements of an individual. Other factors are taken into consideration for progression and release including response in custody, mental health, addictions as well as previous offending behaviour.
