Information requested

A) The number of warranted bailiffs appointed by Scottish Ministers between 1st January 2013 and 1st January 2018 for Scotland as a whole and for the catchment under the control of RCFMT.

B) Alongside this we wish to know the precise number of bailiffs per association or club that have a system relationship with the same RCFMT during the above dates.

C) How many of these bailiffs hold warrants that are subject to geographical limitations and

D) How many (if any) of these warranted bailiffs had their warrants revoked and what were the reasons for revocation.

Response

1. The answer to your questions are shown below.

A) Between 1st January 2013 and 1st January 2018 the Scottish Ministers appointed a total of 57 people as water bailiffs in Scotland. It should be noted that all of these related to areas without a district salmon fishery board.

With regards to the catchment under the control of RCFMT, 34 water bailiff warrants were issued in the relevant period.

B) Over the period concerned the following number of warrants have been issued per association or club:

UCAPA – 6Kelvin – 2Castle – 3Bridge of Weir – 2Mid Clyde – 4Strathgryfe – 2Avon – 2Abercorn – 1

A further 12 which are not specifically identified.

C) No warrants were issued in the relevant period subject to geographical limitations.

D) Our records show that one warrant issued by the Scottish Ministers was withdrawn by RCFMT who made Scottish Ministers aware of the decision. The warrant was revoked due to reported concerns regarding an incident that occurred at the Bridge of Weir angling club.
