Information requested

In relation to page 154 of the 'Scottish Budget: Draft Budget 2018-19', the line that reads 'Payments and Inspections Admin', I would like to acquire a regional breakdown for the figures quoted from the:

a) 2016-17 Budgetb) 2017-18 Budgetc) 2018-19 Draft Budget

I would also like to acquire a detailed breakdown of the solely the payment administration part of this Budget entry.

Response

I enclose at Annex Aregional breakdown of the delegated Payments and Inspection budget line for a) 2016-17 and b) 2017-18. At this stage the draft budgets for 2018-19 have still to be allocated.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested. We do not hold a breakdown of budgets split solely for the payment administration. The reasons why we don't have the information are explained in the Annex to this letter. However, I enclose in Annex A a list of the delegated budgets for the functions involved in the payments process. These budgets include other activities such as inspections.

To assist understanding of these figures, we can confirm that the increase in budget from 2016-17 to 2017-18 was as a result of £8m in corporate recharges being brought into the budget, offset by £0.7m in efficiency savings.

Reasons for not providing information

The Scottish Government does not have the information:

The Scottish Government does not have the information you have asked for because budgets are not split between payments administration and other functions carried out by the same offices and teams.

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.
