Information requested

With respect to FOI/17/02094, you asked for:

1. Why did we ask you to clarify the area concerned?

2. Why were the earlier documents not disclosed initially?

3. Why have the signatures of signatories to the letters from the Government been redacted?

Response

In response to your first question, we sought clarification in case the earlier-dated documentation you were seeking related to different land.

In response to your second question, we realised on receipt of your clarification that you had asked for land adjacent to Newbridge Farm, Carstairs. The additional documents were therefore released to you. I would like to apologise that this was not done originally.

In response to your third question, I can confirm that the exception under Regulation 11 (2) (Personal Data) of EIRs was applied correctly, and personal data relating to Government officials was redacted. The Scottish Government considers that staff have the right to expect an appropriate degree of protection of their privacy, health and wellbeing. In general, our policy with respect to releases of information is to redact the names of more junior staff.
