Health and Wellbeing Census data: FOI release
Information requested
Data from school ‘sex survey’ deleted after concerns
I read in the Times that the data from School Sex Surveys has been deleted by the Scottish Government and those who received, or bought the data.
I have three questions:
1) Does the Scottish Government or associate organisations retain a list of organisations or individuals who were provided with - or sold - the data
2) Do the children who completed the survey, or their parents, have a right to know which organisations or individuals were provided with - or sold - the data
3) Can you please provide a lost of organisations or individuals were provided with - or sold - the data.
Response
1) The Scottish Government retains a list of approved applications for researcher access to 2021/22 Health and Wellbeing Census data through the SG and NRS Data Access Panel (formerly the Scottish Public Benefit and Privacy Panel).
2) Section 25(1) applies as this information is otherwise already accessible. Parents/carers and children/young people have a right to know that their data may be shared with others, as set out in the Health and Wellbeing Census privacy notice.
3) The Scottish Government did not sell any data from the Health and Wellbeing Census. One organisation, Ipsos Mori, was provided with 2021/22 Health and Wellbeing Census data following application approval.
