Information requested
Information regarding the Court Fee Working Group which is being established to support a wider review of the court fee structure.
The full membership of the Court Fee Working Group, including names, roles, and the organisations represented. The terms of reference or remit governing the Working Group. The date the Working Group was established and the schedule of meetings held or planned. Any agendas, minutes, briefing papers, or reports produced by or for the Working Group from 1 January 2025 to the date of this request. Any discussion papers, briefing notes, or policy papers provided to the Working Group relating specifically to, but not limited to: a. court transcript fees b. access to transcripts for criminal defendants c. exemptions or reductions in transcript fees Any equality impact assessments, access to justice assessments, or similar analyses provided Scottish Ministers, Any correspondence between the Scottish Government and the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service relating to the establishment or remit of the Court Fee Working Group.
Response
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested. This is because the Court Fee Working Group is currently in the process of being established by the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS).
The Working Group is expected to include SCTS analysts, court clerks and Scottish Government officials, with the intention that it reports in late 2026 or early 2027.
