Anti-racist employment strategy information: FOI release
Information requested
I am writing in relation to the Anti-racist employment strategy - A Fairer Scotland for All, as published on your website.
Please provide the following information:
1. The total staff time spent drafting, developing, and consulting on the Anti-racist employment strategy - A Fairer Scotland for All along with either the actual cost of that staff time or, where actual costs are not recorded, an estimation of the cost based on the relevant salary grades.
2. Any external costs incurred in producing Anti-racist employment strategy - A Fairer Scotland for All (e.g. consultants, communications, design or printing).
Response
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested. The reasons why we do not have the information are explained below.
Question 1
It is not possible to provide you with the total Scottish Government staff time or cost associated with developing the Anti-Racist Employment Strategy – A Fairer Scotland for All. This is because this relates to work which was taken forward by civil servants as part of their normal duties supporting the Scottish Government and, in line with usual practice, details of individual tasks carried out, including the number of hours spent on them, are not routinely recorded as there is no business need to do this. This is a formal notice under Section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested.
Question 2
The Scottish Government paid £16,465.22 to publish the Anti-Racist Employment Strategy – A Fairer Scotland for All.
We consider external impact assessment work undertaken to support the production of the Anti-Racist Employment Strategy – A Fairer Scotland for All to fall within the scope of this part of your request. However, the costs for this work were incurred as part of a wider commission and the Scottish Government does not hold information identifying the amount attributable to the strategy. This is a formal notice under Section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not hold some of the information you have requested.
