Information requested

Please can the Scottish Government provide any correspondence between any of its ministers or officials and representatives of either Our Union Street or the public relations firm, True North, since the start of 2026.

This should include, but not be limited to, emails, memos, letters, text messages, and messages on applications likeWhatsApp. I'd also like any minutes or agendas of any meetings held between Scottish ministers or officials and representatives of either Our Union Street and True North in that period.

Response

I enclose a copy of most of the information you requested. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because an exemption under section s.38(1)(b) (personal information) of FOISA applies to that information. The reasons why that exemption applies are explained in the Annex to this email.

Annex: Reasons for not providing information

An exemption applies An exemption under section s.38(1)(b) of FOISA applies to some of the information you have requested. The exemption is for personal data belonging to a third party and applies to information such as names and personal details of Scottish Government employees or officials from another Government department. We do not have to disclose this information where disclosure would contravene UK GDPR data protection principles. This exemption is not subject to the ‘public interest test’, so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
