Response

1. Between 2021 and 2023, what estates or large land holdings – other than Glen Prosen – did Forestry and Land Scotland/Scottish Ministers approach to purchase?

Ans: FLS considered 12 large Estate properties ranging in size from 700 hectares to 4700 hectares between 2021 & 2023. 8 properties were discounted at an early stage as they didn’t meet FLS & SG Strategic aims.

2. What was the value of each of those estates?

Ans: Values ranged from £3M to £24M

3. What was the strategic importance of those estates, and why were they not chosen?

Ans: The 4 estates considered met FLS and SG objectives for woodland creation and planning on a landscape scale.

FLS withdrew interest from one, as a community/private partnership with similar aims had strong interest. FLS were unable to agree terms with the seller on another estate. FLS were unsuccessful at closing date on another. FLS were successful with their bid on Glenprosen.
