Information requested

Can you please provide a summary of all Scottish Government employees by pay bands (suggest separate bands for every £20k increase) in total benefits package.

Please provide this for each tax year since 2018/2019. Please include a column showing how many have Scottish tax codes, how many have English Tax Codes and how many have overseas tax codes and a separate column for number who are self employed.

Response

The information you have requested is provided in Annex A. The Scottish Government does not have any employees who have an overseas tax code or who are considered to be self-employed. The Scottish Government is reliant on HMRC for the provision of the appropriate tax code to apply to individual staff members. As the data provided is a snapshot at a given date, there may be staff included in that number who were in the process of relocating to Scotland or who were on a default UK tax code due to change of employment which has now been updated by HMRC.
