Information requested

You asked for a list of all payments made to the Scottish FA and Scottish Premier League Trust from 1st January 2020 to present (13/05/2025) and copies of all agreements between the CashBack scheme and the Scottish FA and between the scheme and the SPL Trust.

Response

Please note that information relating to the list of payments made from the Scottish Government to both the Scottish FA and Scottish Premier League SPFL) Trust is available from Government spend over £25,000: monthly and annual reports - gov.scot

Under section 25(1) of FOISA, we do not have to give you information which is already reasonably accessible to you. If, however, you do not have internet access to obtain this information from the website listed, then please contact me again and I will send you a paper copy.

I enclose a copies of Grant Agreements for CashBack for Communities funding between the Scottish Government and both the Scottish FA and SPFL Trust. An exemption under section 38(1)(b) of FOISA applies to some of the information you have requested.

Additionally, exemption under section 33(1)(b) of FOISA applies to some of the information you have requested. This exemption is subject to the ‘public interest test’. Therefore, taking account of all the circumstances of this case, we have considered if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.

We have found that, on balance, the public interest lies in favour of upholding the exemption. We recognise that there is some public interest in release however, this is outweighed by the public interest that disclosure would likely prejudice the commercial interests of organisations as we approach a new application window for the CashBack for Communities programme.

However, it may be of interest to visit the CashBack for Communities website, Homepage - CashBack for Communities. You can find publicly available information relating to CashBack for Communities projects, including the SFA and SPFL trust.
