Information requested

Copies of licences have been issued by derogation permitting any creel fishing in Loch Sunart over the period 2023-25 inclusive, including licences which permitted fishing to take place in the loch during that period as well as those which had a date of issue in that period.

Response

There have been no licences issued with a specific derogation permitting creel fishing in Loch Sunart over the period 2023-2025.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested. Therefore we are refusing your request under the exception at regulation 10(4)(a) of the EIRs.

The reasons why that exception applies are explained in the Annex to this letter.

Information provided outwith the EIRs

Under Regulation 9 of the EIRs, our duty to provide advice and assistance, we are providing the following additional information:

A domestic fishing licence provides a general authority to fish within the UK EEZ and specifies conditions which must be adhered to by a vessel owner/master/charterer No licences expressly permit fishing to take place in the loch. All licence holders are subject to the provisions and prohibitions contained within The Inshore Fishing (Prohibition of Fishing and Fishing Methods) (Scotland) Order 2015. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ssi/2015/435/made
