Information requested

Whether there is any indication that the cancellation of HS2 Phase Two had any noticeable effect on allocation of consequentials to Scotland.

Response

There have been no negative capital consequentials as a result of changes in the Department for Transport budget since the cancellation of HS2 Phase Two. Our capital funding consequentials from Department for Transport have increased in the fiscal events since October 2022. This is consistent with the UK Government’s indication at the time that the budget earmarked for HS2 would be retained within the Department for Transport.

There are detailed breakdowns of all consequential budget impacts for Scotland at UK Government fiscal events published in the Estimates memoranda provided on the Scottish Affairs Committee website.
