Information requested
1. Since coming into effect, the number of people, by month, convicted of a criminal offence under the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act.
Of these, the number of who received a custodial sentence. Of these, the number who received a community sentence. Of these, the number who were fined, total value of fines dispensed, and largest single fine issued.
2. Since coming into effect, the number of people, by month, convicted of a criminal offence under the Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) (Scotland) Act.
Of these, the number of who received a custodial sentence. Of these, the number who received a community sentence. Of these, the number who were fined, total value of fines dispensed, and largest single fine issued.
Response
1. There have been no proceedings or convictions (where it is the main crime) under the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021 since it received Royal Assent on 23/04/2024. Please note that the latest Criminal Proceedings data covers proceedings up to the 2022-23 financial year. The 2023-24 data is scheduled for publication in late 2025.
2. The Scottish Government does not hold the information you have requested regarding the Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) (Scotland) Act 2024, as this Act received Royal Assent on 22/07/2024. The latest Criminal Proceedings data available is for the 2022-23 financial year.
