Information requested

The proof to back up the statement "recorded crime is down 40 per cent since 2006-07" as quoted by Siobhian Brown on January 7 at the Scottish Parliament.

Response

As at the 7th January 2024, the latest Accredited Official Statistics show the police recorded 300,134 crimes in Scotland over the year ending September 2024. This is 40% lower than the 497,424 crimes recorded in 2006/07.
