Information requested
Total expense, by year, in nominal and inflation-adjusted values, on health capital expenditure from 2010 to present. Total expense, by year, in nominal and inflation-adjusted values, on non-health capital expenditure from 2010 to present. Total consequential funding, by year, in nominal and inflation-adjusted values, for capital expenditure from 2010 to present. Total expense, as a proportion of the total budget, on health capital spending from 2010 to present. Total expense, as a proportion of the total budget, on non-health capital spending from 2010 to present. Total consequential funding, as a proportion of the total budget, for capital expenditure from 2010 to present.
Response
The information requested is provided in the table below. With regards to the information within the table it should be noted: It is not possible to provide wholly comparable historic data for this timeframe. There have been changes to devolved responsibilities over this time period, most notably the devolution of social security expenditure to the Scottish Government. For 2024-25 final outturn data in not available so latest provisional figures have been used. The capital figures quoted in the table are for core discretionary funding only. It should be noted that spending on hosting the Commonwealth Games has a material effect on health capital spend from 2010-11 through to 2013-14. Scottish Government capital borrowing powers where agreed in 2015-16. The OBR’s Autumn Budget 2024 GDP deflators have been used in calculating the real terms figures in the table below. These are provided in 2023-24 prices.
