1. NHS Orkney have recently advertised for the role of ‘Director of Performance and Transformation (and Deputy Chief Executive)’, can you please provide me with the named person, and position within Scottish Government who mandated this role to be recruited?

2. What roles, by title has Scottish Government mandated NHS Orkney to recruit since the board has been placed in NHS Scotland support and intervention framework?

3. By job title and grade, please detail the roles the Scottish Government are currently funding as part of the NHS Scotland support and intervention framework?

Response

1. Employment within Boards is not in the remit of Scottish Government. Scottish Government have not mandated any role within NHS Orkney to be recruited.

3. Under the NHS Scotland Support and Intervention Framework a package of support is available at different levels.

As Orkney were escalated to level 3 in relation to their financial position in November 2023, a support package was put in place, mainly through Viridian Consultants. No core member of staff at NHS Orkney is funded by Scottish Government as part of this support package.
