Costs for the Automation Centre of Excellence: FOI release
Information requested
Confirmation of the total costs incurred versus the current value of the Automation Centre of Excellence since it was established.
Response
In 2021 we established an Automation Centre of Excellence in response to the Digital Strategy commitment to establish a "public sector centre of excellence for process automation to reduce the need for staff to undertake repetitive and administrative tasks. This will commission joint projects and share information about ‘what works’ to avoid unnecessary and often costly repetition of work."
In response to your question, the total cost is approximately £4m. The Automation Centre of Excellence does not have an independent value because it is a core part of the Scottish Government.
