Information requested

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 I am requesting all communications between the Scottish Government, Aether Ltd, and the Scotch Whisky Association regarding or referring to the research contract "Review of the Human Health and Environmental Impacts of NMVOC Emissions from Malt Whisky Maturation Facilities.

This should include all correspondence and communications between ministers, officials, and scientific advisers, Aether Ltd and the Scotch Whisky Association between the period June 2022 until September 2023.

Response

In response to your request, I enclose a copy of the all correspondence received between the Scottish Government, Aether Ltd, and the Scotch Whisky Association regarding or referring to the research contract "Review of the Human Health and Environmental Impacts of NMVOC Emissions from Malt Whisky Maturation Facilities”.

In reviewing the correspondence some elements have been redacted as they fall under an exemption under section 38(1)(b) (personal data the disclosure of which would contravene data protection principles) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA).

The final report has also not been included, under section 25(1) of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA), as this is already accessible in the public domain - Review of the Human Health and Environmental Impacts of Non-Methane Volatile Organic Compound Emissions from Malt Whisky Maturation in Scotland (www.gov.scot)
