Information requested

1. The number of revised mandates that have actually been processed by the Scottish Public Pensions Agency and paid by them. 2. SPPA to disclose timescales for processing all those revised mandates received (Police Pensions).

Response

1. At 15 February 2024, the SPPA have received 145 revised mandates which relate to the 2023 Police backdated pay award. At present, no revisions which relate to the 2023 backdated pay award have been finalised. 2. SPPA are currently developing new processes and improving system capability which will allow these backdated awards to also include a Remedy choice, rather than revising on two separate occasions. Due to the significant effort to tackle large volumes of revisions, in this instance two large volumes in a short period of time, we have taken an approach that allows us to effectively and accurately revise these members as part of a single, all encompassing, revision.

The Remedy choice, as part of the revision, will be made via a Remediable Service Statement (RSS), the choice being inclusive of the 7% backdated pay rise. We anticipate all of these mandates, and any further relating to the backdated pay award, will be completed by 30 September 2024.
