1) of the £2 million Scotland pledged at COP 26, held 31st October - 12th November 2021, for loss and damage
2) how much has been paid, and to what persons or organisations
Response
I can confirm that Scotland pledged £2 million for loss and damage at COP26. How that was spent is outlined within the following table, which also ties into the wider now £10 million pledged to address loss and damage across this parliamentary term:
Amount (£) Grantee Project description 1,000,000 Climate Justice Resilience Fund This programme funded projects in the Global South to address loss & damage, including in the Pacific, Bangladesh, and Malawi as well as a youth-led participatory grant making council. 500,000 Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund This programme supported communities in Malawi that experienced loss and damage following tropical storms Ana and Gombe. 75,000 Stockholm Environment Institute Funding for research on operationalising finance for loss and damage and underpinning this finance with Climate Justice principles 150,000 International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) Bangladesh Funding for research on incorporating evaluation of loss and damage into existing national governmental strategies such as National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and Nationally-Determined Contributions (NDCs) 300,000 Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund Expansion of the Malawi loss and damage programme following the impacts caused by tropical storm Freddy
