Information requested

1. A list of each social media listening/social media monitoring tool the Scottish Government pays for across all departments or directorates. Please include the annual fee/cost of each.

2. The document for each social media monitoring tool which states the terms, topics, issues, names or subjects that each social media monitoring tool is used to monitor.

Response

1. The following summarises contracts in place for social media listening or monitoring tools:

Brandwatch (for Communications Directorate), cost £32,400, ends March 2024 Digimind (for Digital Directorate, as part of wider contract for media services from Onclusive), cost £4,828, ended Jan 2024

2. For Digimind, please see the attached document that states the search parameters used.

For Brandwatch, while our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested. For our use of Brandwatch, there is no single document that outlines the specific search terms that this tool is used to monitor. Searches are conducted by multiple officials as required by the organisation on a day to day basis, in response to ongoing government priorities and emerging incidents. These searches are ad hoc by nature and are not routinely saved. Rather, the results of any searches are analysed and used to inform official reporting.

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested.
