Information requested

The estimated costs of enforcing the changes to the law to prohibit parking on the pavement and what money has been allocated to Councils to enforce this change.

Response

In relation to the first part of your question, while our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance Transport Scotland does not have the information you have requested.

The reason for this is Transport Scotland are continuing discussions with COSLA and SCOTS to estimate the costs to local authorities of implementing signs and lines in locations that they wish to exempt from the pavement parking prohibition. Given that we do not have details of the number of areas of pavement to be exempted at this stage we are not able to provide an accurate figure for this at this time.

Regarding the allocation of funds given to each Scottish Local Authority to implement the Transport (Scotland) Act 2019 parking provisions, this information has been provided within Annex A of this request. In total Local Authorities have been allocated a total of £2.4 million.
