Information requested

The official date that Scotland Secretary Alister Jack was sent an invitation to attend the Anti-Poverty Summit. Please also provide the correspondence that was sent to his office and the reply the Scottish Government received. If Jack wasn't the one who the invite was addressed to then please still include the date and correspondence. The list of every organisation (and individuals) who were sent an invitation to the summit. Please provide the date on which each organisation or individual was asked.

Response

In respect of the first part of part 1 of your request, i.e. "the official date that Scotland Secretary Alister Jack was sent an invitation to attend the Anti-Poverty Summit", the answer to your question is the Secretary of State for Scotland, Alister Jack MP, was invited to attend the anti-poverty summit on 28 April 2023.

With reference to the second part of part 1 of your request, i.e. "Please also provide the correspondence that was sent to his office and the reply the Scottish Government received", I enclose a copy of most of the information you requested.

An exemption under section 38(1)(b) of FOISA applies to some of the information you have requested. Section 38(1)(b) relates to personal data the disclosure of which would contravene data protection principles. As such, we have redacted the names and other identifying information of Scottish Government and Scotland Office officials.

In respect of part 2 of your request, to provide a “list of every organisation (and individuals) who were sent an invitation to the summit” and to “provide the date on which each organisation or individual was asked”, I enclose a copy of most of the information you requested.

An exemption under section 27(1) of FOISA applies to some the information you have requested. Section 27(1) relates to information intended for future publication. The names of guests who have accepted an invitation to attend events hosted by Scottish Ministers are routinely published on the Scottish Government website. This information will be made available in due course at: www.gov.scot/collections/ministerial-engagements-travel-and-gifts/. As such, we have only provided the names of organisations invited, and the dates that invitations were issued.
