Information requested

In relation to the balance of staff working from home/in the Dundee headquarters, please provide the SSS occupancy levels in the Dundee office in this calendar year.

In relation to the Dundee HQ, please state how much was paid in calendar year 2022 in rent, rates, energy and maintenance.

Response

The average percentage of workstations being occupied in Agnes Husband House over the period 2 January 2023 to 14 May 2023 is 38%.

It should be noted that this figure captures Social Security Scotland staff using a desk in our buildings but does not include staff attending training, meetings or activities in collaborative spaces. Visitors to the building are also not included in this count.

Social Security Scotland has adopted hybrid working in its central buildings. All colleagues based in Dundee and Glasgow are expected to spend part of their working week in an office. Hybrid working has allowed us to employ more staff without having to lease further office space, delivering significant savings to the public purse.

Please find the information from the second part of your request in the below table:

Rent Rates Energy* Maintenance Cost from January 1 2022 to December 31 2022 £541,200 £148,001 £251,895 £506,795

*Includes all fuel and utilities costs.
