As there was no timescale provided within the request, we have interpreted your request to include historic development and creation of the Third Sector Interface in the Scottish Borders.
The answer to your question is below.
Scotland’s 32 TSIs were created in 2008 from the 120 separate organisations delivering support for volunteering, social enterprise and third sector organisations across the country at that time. In the Scottish Borders four organisations worked together to fulfil the TSI outcomes. These partners were – Berwickshire Association for Voluntary Service (BAVS), The Bridge, The Scottish Borders Social Enterprise Chamber and Volunteer Centre Borders.
In 2021 the partners undertook a review their operating arrangements and legal structure. A business change consultancy, paid for by Scottish Government, facilitated this change process.
The TSI (care of BAVS) received an annual grant of £308,000 from 2008 until 31 March 2023. From 1 April 2023 all TSIs in Scotland received a 4% uplift to their grants. For Scottish Borders this increased the grant to £320,320. Scottish Government paid £6,274.20 in 2021-22 and £11,216.52 in 2022-23 for the business change consultancy work which was undertaken.
