Information requested

The top 3 slowest FOI responses in each of the last 5 years, including the total length of time it took to respond to each FOI and a short description of the subject of the FOI.

Response

For the purposes of responding to this request I have interpreted that the term 'FoI' refers both to requests and reviews received under FOI(S)A and the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (EIRS) .

I enclose a copy of some of the information you requested in the attached excel spreadsheet. This is a formal notice that the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you requested.

In 2018 there was only one FOI recorded as being late. During 2018 the Scottish Government transitioned to a new case management system for the handling of correspondence and formal information requests. This is a formal notice under Section 17(1) of FOISA that we do not hold this information.

To provide some background surrounding cases identified and provided in the attachment which were responded to significantly late having been received in 2020 & 2021. In 2022 the FOI Unit undertook an exercise to identify any FOI requests that had been received by the Scottish Government but not allocated to a case handler. A small number of historic cases were identified and responses were issued. The cases identified with an asterisk in the annex were responded to following this exercise.
