Information requested

1. What percentage of our housing stock in Scotland is tenements? 2. How many of these are under a conservation order which blocks the installation of uPVCwindows? 3. How many of these tenements are in a state of disrepair, or have damp problems which have detrimental health impacts on their residents? 4. How many of these are rented?

Response

The Scottish House Condition Survey (SHCS) collects information on the type of dwelling and can be used to provide an answer to the first question. The most recent SHCS key findings report shows that 24% of dwellings in Scotland in 2019 were tenements. This equates to around 590,000 dwellings. However, in relation to questions 2, 3 and 4, the Scottish Government does not hold this information centrally. You may be able to find out more on conservation areas via the relevant planning authority. About FOI
