Information requested
From 2009 to 2022 (current date) may I request the total number of fatalities and serious injuries on the A9. Could the information be broken down year by year. Ie 2009-2010 2010-2011 And so on up until October 2022 please.
Response
The following table provides the information you requested. From summer 2019, Police Scotland introduced a new system for recording the severity of casualties in road accidents. This meant that it was not possible to compare the number of serious casualties with years prior to 2020. However, I have included estimated adjusted figures that can give you some idea of the differences between years.
Killed and seriously injured casualties on the A9, 2009 to 2022 (October) Killed Unadjusted serious Adjusted serious 2009 7 56 96 2010 15 42 88 2011 13 40 70 2012 10 47 82 2013 9 32 61 2014 8 29 53 2015 7 25 50 2016 7 42 70 2017 5 35 60 2018 10 46 69 2019 6 47 63 2020 1 4 22 22 2021 4 40 40 2022 2 11 26 26 1. Unadjusted serious figures prior to 2020 are not comparable with later years. 2. Data for 2022 is still being collected and verified. The figures in the table are only up to 8 October 2022. Final figures will vailable until May 2023.
