The number of staff at this organisation have a home address based in England in each year since 2020-21, including the current year to date, broken down by pay banding if possible.
Response
We have interpreted your question to mean the number of Scottish Government employees in the core directorates (SG Core) with a home address in England. We are providing this information as at June 2025 using data from the most recent official publication of the Scottish Government's workforce statistics, and from June of each of the preceding 5 years.
This response includes staff who are in off-shore Marine seafaring roles whose working pattern is 3 weeks at sea / 3 weeks off duty and where it is a feature of that labour market for the workforce to be resident in a range of different countries. This information has been compiled with reference to address information held on our HR systems as at 30 June of each year. It is therefore a snapshot as at that date and does not, for example, reflect where individuals may have since relocated to Scotland following their appointment to the Scottish Government.
The total number of staff with a home address in England has been between 1.4% and 1.6% of the total workforce in each year since 2020/21.
